Did a little stitching and completed a couple more sections.

This is a close up of section C3 with composite stitches that form squares.  This is really going to be a beautiful design when finished.  It is raining today so plenty of time to do more stitching.

I have read needlepoint blogs for the past three or four years and enjoy seeing new project, new threads and general discussions and tips.  Counted Canvas needlepoint is my favorite hobby and this blog is dedicated to that.

While living in a large city I do not have any stitching friends so this is my way to connect to other stitchers and to share what I am stitching.

My current project is Elements and four part series designed by Kathy Rees of Needle Delights Originals.  Kathy designed the Elements series for Tomorrow's Heirlooms counted canvas club so the designs are only available through Tomorrow's Heirlooms. The first design is Earth, stitched with Gloriana Princess Perle, Gloriana 12 strand silk, #5 Perle Cotton, RG Silk Lame Braid, RG Petite Very Velvet, DMC Cotton Floss and 2 colors of Vineyard Silk.

Let's talk about the fibers:
Gloriana Princess Perle - This is the first time I've stitched with Princess Perle and it is a little thinner than #5 Perle but very easy to stitch with.  The over-dyed colors are really beautiful and look great on this piece.
Gloriana 12 strand silk - I have worked with 12 strand silk before and it isn't my favorite however I have not used this 12 strand silk yet in the piece.  I could come to like this silk, will wait and see.
RG Silk Lame Braid - This braid has just a little metallic in it kind of like Caron Snow but easier to stitch with. If I stitched this piece again I will probably substitute a Kreinik braid for more metallic and sparkle.
RG Petite Very Velvet - A dream to stitch with, beautiful texture.  If you haven't tried it you should.
DMC Cotton Floss - Ok so everybody knows floss, nothing special.
Vineyard Silk - Hard to describe the silk, it is a joy to stitch with.  So soft and slides smoothly through the canvas.  The only downside to silk is the price but worth the money.

Kathy created Earth as an asymmetrical design, which is really amazing, and also tweaked the design to create a symmetrical pattern as well.  I signed up for the larger symmetrical designs by when the first two designs arrived I was torn because I really like the original asymmetrical design also.  So the bottom line is I wind up stitching both.

Here are some photos of the beginning of Earth, I'll add more as I go along.
